The Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA) and the Quebec Jewellers Corporation (Corporation des bijoutiers du Québec, CBQ) have formalised a new alliance intended to strengthen support for the jewellery industry in Quebec. The partnership will see the CJA increase its presence in the province and assume responsibility for organising the long-running Expo Prestige trade show from 2025 onwards.
Expanded Services and Bilingual Support
Under the agreement, the CJA will take on a broader operational role in Quebec, with an emphasis on bilingual service delivery. A French-speaking staff member will be introduced, and all communications will be provided in both English and French. This measure is intended to improve accessibility for retailers and suppliers operating within the province’s linguistic and regulatory environment.
Angela Betteridge, Chair of the CJA, stated:
“The CJA will provide numerous advantages and benefits to the Quebec Jewellery community, with one of the key initiatives being a completely bilingual association. We extend a warm welcome to all Quebec retail and supply businesses, recognizing that we are stronger together.”
CJA to Lead Expo Prestige 2025
As part of the transition, the CJA will manage Expo Prestige 2025, taking over from the CBQ, which has previously overseen the event. The trade show is scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 August 2025 at the Grand Quay in the Port of Montreal. The CJA has previously managed events such as the Jewellery World Expo and partnered with Reed Exhibitions, experience that will inform its organisation of Expo Prestige 2025.
Expo Prestige has run for more than 50 years and remains a key trade show for the jewellery sector in Quebec. It will now be organised by the CJA at the national level.
Implications for Industry Stakeholders
CBQ, which has represented Quebec’s jewellers for over 68 years, has historically played a central role in supporting the local trade through advocacy, events, and member services. By aligning with the CJA, there may be opportunities for integrated support across provincial and national levels, with a focus on harmonised standards and collective representation.
For jewellers, manufacturers, and suppliers operating in Quebec, the partnership may open access to a wider range of educational resources, advocacy efforts, and networking opportunities. The bilingual infrastructure and regional focus included in the agreement are intended to support engagement across the province.
The CJA, established in 1918, continues to serve as the national voice for the Canadian jewellery industry, providing member services across areas including compliance, professional development, and industry standards.
