Toronto police have released a video seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in an armed robbery at a jewellery store in North York earlier this month. The incident occurred on the afternoon of May 16 at CF Fairview Mall, situated at Sheppard Avenue East and Don Mills Road.
Incident Details
According to police reports, five suspects travelled to the mall in a vehicle, with four entering the building. Surveillance footage shows an employee opening the door for a man, identified by police as one of the suspects. The man, after entering the store, holds the door open for a second suspect wearing a black cap and a blue mask.
The employee attempted to prevent the second suspect from entering, leading to a brief struggle during which the employee was assaulted. The second suspect, armed with a firearm, managed to gain entry and subsequently brandished the weapon. He took an undisclosed quantity of jewellery before fleeing the scene. The video later shows the two suspects running away from the store.
Suspect Descriptions
Descriptions of the two suspects seen in the video have been released by police. The first suspect is described as having a medium build with short brown hair, wearing a black button-up shirt, beige pants, and black shoes. The second suspect is believed to have a thin build and a tattoo on his right hand, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, ripped black jeans, black shoes, and a black baseball hat.
No information has been provided regarding the three other suspects involved in the incident.
