Toronto police are seeking three suspects in connection with an armed robbery at a jewellery store at the intersection of Yonge Street and Dundas Street East. The robbery, involving the discharge of a firearm, occurred on December 13, 2023.
Incident Details
The robbery was carried out by a group of eight men travelling in two stolen vehicles. Seven suspects entered the jewellery store wearing masks. One suspect fired a handgun at a glass door, while others used hammers to smash display cases. During the robbery, one of the suspects assaulted a victim with a handgun. The suspects fled the scene with the stolen jewellery. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Arrests and Charges
Officers at the scene intercepted one of the vehicles and arrested four male suspects following a brief foot chase. Among those arrested was Ali Taha, 20, of Toronto, who has been charged with several offenses, including Robbery with a Firearm, Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound, Endanger Life or Prevent Arrest, and Disguise with Intent. Three male youths, aged 16 and 17, also face charges related to the robbery and firearm discharge.
Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of a fifth suspect on April 3, 2024. This individual faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime.
Suspects Still at Large
Despite these arrests, three suspects remain unidentified. Toronto police have released images and descriptions of these individuals:
- Suspect One: Black medium-length twisted hair, grey hoodie.
- Suspect Two: Black moustache and chin hair, grey hoodie, black toque.
- Suspect Three: Medium-length twisted hair, grey Puma hoodie.
